Before I start I want to state this is my opinion only I am not a lawyer. However, I have been following the Occupy Wall Street Protesters for some time. Lots of protestors are college students who graduated with the promise of a job, but now NOTHING but thousands of dollars of debt. I have come to the conclusion the colleges may be liable for damages caused to students.
Most (Occupy Protesters) are also people that were laid off from their jobs. They’re not lazy people looking for a handout as I have seen some post. I suppose most of us have jobs today. But if that was taken away from us and we were no longer able to provide for our families. Most likely we would ask why us hard working people got the short end of the stick? HAVE A HEART. It’s rough? times.
Students as well have been injured on their own campuses. “I am deeply saddened that this happened on our campus, and as chancellor, I take full responsibility for the incident,” Katehi said Sunday. “However, I pledge to take the actions needed to ensure that this does not happen again. I feel very sorry for the harm our students were subjected to and I vow to work tirelessly to make the campus a more welcoming and safe place.” Unfortunately for the injured students the sentiment is to late ans the campus may be liable for these injuries.
Regardless of your thoughts about the protests, many of them are innocent men and women who have been injured through no fault of their own. In fact some of the so called protesters whom were injured were AP reporters covering the story.
